Car Wreck Photos From The 20's

The below photos can be found on Flickr under the Boston Public Library's page. They are labeled as the Leslie Jones Collection. She was a photographer that lived from 1886 to 1967. Back then, there were no safety features on the cars. Not even a seat belt. Tires had very little tread and lack of traction was often involved with cars losing control. Combine that with the fact there was no testing or teaching process in place to allow someone to drive, and you can see why the below images seemed to happen quite frequently. They happened even more frequently after 1933 when Prohibition ended.

Apparently Leslie took great pride in documenting these auto accidents, and in turn, somehow the Boston Public Library obtained possession of her photos and all of them are available for viewing on their Flickr page.
