Canon 46MP Camera to be shown at PhotoPlus

We have been seeing this rumor for a while that Canon had a big megapixel camera coming. Something close to 50MP. Crazy, right? I mean who even wants that kind of size? Well judging from the way that D800's have been flying off the shelf at stores everywhere, apparently a lot of people think they do.

Can't argue with sales, right?

Well Northlight Images, and Craig Blair at Canon Rumors, both agree that the rumors they are seeing are pointing to a preview of some sort at PhotoPlus in New York next month. So we will know shortly if those rumors are true.

Do I think this is believable? Yes. Canon needs to answer the D800 big MP count. It is certain that they will. In addition, we know that Canon has been working on a completely new sensor design for a while because of patent filings. The timing seems right, and the rumors line up. So I am guessing we will see something big from Canon next month. Big as in MP count, anyways.
