Canon Announces 6D Entry Level Full Frame

Good morning PhotoTips fans, have a new camera to start your day. Hot on the heals of the new Nikon D600 that was largely met with grumbling because of price, we have Canon revealing the new entry level full frame camera. The 6D. Price is about the same, coming in at $2100.

But unlike the grumbling associated with the Nikon, me thinks the Canon will be better received by it's fans. Mainly because there is a $1400 jump to reach the 5DIII, and at least one new feature that will make studio shooters grin.

(Plus it will include 1/8000 shutter speed over the D600 1/4000 shutter speed)
CORRECTION: This was wrong. It will come with 1/4000th max shutter speed just like the D600.

The built in WiFi is sure to be a crowd pleaser, allowing the camera to transfer images to Wireless devices. Including laptops and smartphones. Yes. I said it was built in. There is even a new remote triggering app from Canon to go along with it.

Please, God, let this be a consistant trend we see coming for a while.

Specs are as follows...

  • 20.2 MP Sensor
  • ISO range from 50-25600
  • 11 point AF
  • 63 Zone Metering
  • 4.5 frames per second
  • Built in WiFi
  • 3" Screen
  • 1080p Video
  • Built in GPS
