The tripod is not sturdy enough to handle a full DSLR rig, but can handle up to 3 pounds. So a light weight DLSR and kit lens, or a point and shoot, and even a mirrorless can be mounted without a problem.
When you see the thing in operation, the first thing that comes to your mind, is that they robbed the poles from your tent to make a tripod.
