Tamrac Zipshot Lightweight Tripod

Tamrac announced this handy little gadget at Photokina this week. It is a super fast set up, super lightweight, travelers tripod. How fast? Must be seen in the video below to be believed. How lightweight? Try only 11 oz.

The tripod is not sturdy enough to handle a full DSLR rig, but can handle up to 3 pounds. So a light weight DLSR and kit lens, or a point and shoot, and even a mirrorless can be mounted without a problem.

When you see the thing in operation, the first thing that comes to your mind, is that they robbed the poles from your tent to make a tripod.

Whatever... If you are a hiker, this might be just the ticket for the lighter equipment that you guys tend to cary.

Price is only $50. But to gain the ultimate in speed, you need the quick release accessory for $15 more. With that, you can go to a fully ready position in about 10 seconds.
