1Dx Versus 1Dc - Would you pay $6,200 for a firmware update?

oops.... The truth is out and Canon is busted. But they are not the only ones complicit. In fact it seems to be an angry little trend that both Nikon and Canon seem to be embracing. In this particular case, EOS HD is reporting that the only difference between the amazing 1Dx and the Video centric version called the 1Dc is the firmware that sits inside the the thing, and a headphone jack. Yup. That's it.

So would you pay $6,200 for a firmware update and a headphone jack? Well I can bet you that someone right now is hacking and making their own firmware to sell for a much more affordable price. And there is already a boatload of options and work arounds for not having a headphone jack built in.

Wow.

Like I said, Nikon is not exactly innocent here either. The D600, D800 and D800E, and the top of the line D4, is basically the same camera manufactured in the same place at the same time, with different firmware, and a few little hardware changes.

But this is by far the biggest hamstringing we have ever seen.
