A big 46mp Canon Camera is coming, we are told from the powers that be. We are told we will preview this new beast at the end of this month at PhotoPlus in New York. It supposed to be a completely new redesign of the sensor, and make Canonites weep with joy and Nikonians quiver in fear...
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know....
But despite the last part about Nikonians quivering in fear being a laughable, we do know that something is coming. This rumor was only intensified yesterday when B&H showed a Canon 3D with 46MP sensor briefly on their website.
It was there one minute, and then disappeared into a cloud of speculation the next. No statement was made by Canon or B&H. But if this was an accident or on purpose, the move was brilliant. It sent tongues wagging all over the internet, and made Canonites hearts skip beats everywhere.
On thing is for sure, something -is- coming. Let the predictions begin.

UPDATE
-----------
Craig Blair over at CanonRumors.com has a convincing argument that somebody hoaxed the whole thing. (Maybe I should have read that first before posting...) He says the following:
"I am 99.9% sure this is a hoax, as B&H Photo is on holiday and I doubt they’d be adding and removing products that haven’t been announced. Even if a new camera is coming for PhotoPlus, this is way too soon for B&H Photo to be notified of new products. Not to mention the fact that the manufacturer number 5266B002 is for the PowerShot Elph 510HS. Most of the specs here have been taken from the Canon EOS-1D X, as you can see from the lowercase “p” in MP. If you search the 5D Mark III or 7D, you get a different way to show megapixels. The kerning of the 46.1mp also seems to be off. Hoax, hoax, hoax!"
