Nikon has officially released the V2 mirrorless. A sweet little 14MP camera to be sure. It comes with a fast Expeed 3A processor. It blazes image captures at 15 frames per second, and even includes a pop up flash. But you can also add a bounce capable external flash called the SB-N7.
It still carries the V1 original price point of $899 and includes a 10-30mm kit lens.
Here is what I find is the coolest leap forward with this camera. The ability to capture video and extract a 14MP still from any frame. It is an upgraded version of the Motion Snapshot feature. It captures 1.6 seconds of footage and plays it back over a 4 second period. You can then select what image is used, turn around and add background music in camera, and export the completed movie, with music, and the selected still as a .MOV file.
There is also a very cool Slow View that buffers at 40 frames in a 1.33 second time frame when you halfway press down on the shutter release. It then plays them back at 1/5th speed, to allow you to select the frame that best captures that moment.
This is a feature I can predict that we will see coming on other stuff in the future.
